2015 RBC Heritage: Round 1

2015 RBC Heritage

Aw Shucks, Jordan Spieth ... You Had Us at 'RBC Heritage'

Congratulations, Jordan Spieth! You just won the Masters!

You're no ordinary green-jacketed champion, though. You're a 21-year-old champion, joining an exclusive club that previously consisted of Tiger Woods and nobody else. The media is breathlessly fawning over you, calling you golf's new Golden Child or It Boy. The only words coming faster than the hyperbole are yours downplaying the hype.

And so your fresh-faced candor and aw-shucks humility are packed into a private jet and whisked away to New York City, where you're interviewed by the likes of David Letterman and Charlie Rose. Heck, Matt Lauer even held an umbrella over your head to keep those pesky raindrops away. Which would be pretty cool if you weren't busy tweeting replies to your Dallas sports heroes, Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith and Dirk Nowitzki, for their congratulatory messages.

All of this adulation and attention leads to one question that's asked more often after the Super Bowl than a golf tournament: "Jordan Spieth, you just won the Masters. What are you going to do next?"

The usual answer, of course, is, "I'm going to Disney World!" Other acceptable responses include Las Vegas, the Playboy Mansion, the South of France or the moon. After all, you're big-time now.

Well, maybe you're doing it wrong. On the heels of that Masters victory, you are here, at Harbour Town Golf Links, for this week's RBC Heritage. Not because they paid you great gobs of money or have Hollywood starlets waiting on the first tee. But because ... you're honoring a commitment!
