The world golf rankings are slightly less complicated than, say, untangling Michael Lewis' new book on high-speed computerized stock traders but they do give us a decent snapshot of the last 12 (or so) months of golf.
And in those 12 months Jordan Spieth has made a climb the likes of which we've seen few times, if ever.
A recap.
500 days ago: Spieth is ranked No. 810 in the world.
400 days ago: Spieth is ranked No. 276 in the world.
300 days ago: Spieth is ranked No. 141 in the world.
200 days ago: Spieth is ranked No. 21 in the world.
100 days ago: Spieth is ranked No. 17 in the world.
Today: Spieth is ranked No. 9 in the world.
That's right, after the 2014 Masters Spieth has sandwiched himself between Phil Mickelson (No. 8) and Rory McIlroy (No. 10) as a top 10 golfer in the world.
Update: Following a T-12 finish at RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, SC, this past weekend, Spieth now ranks no. 7 in OWG Rankings.
