'Heaven on earth,' Jordan Spieth Says of Playing in His First Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Jordan Spieth, who is playing in his first Masters, is doing his best to get the “awe” factor out before competition begins. He arrived at Augusta National on Saturday afternoon and has been practicing ever since.

Although his anticipated practice round with former champions Ben Crenshaw and Tom Watson was wiped out Monday because of inclement weather, Spieth did get in 18 holes Tuesday with Lucas Glover and fellow first-timer Derek Ernst.

So what will it be like playing in his first Masters?

“This is heaven on earth to us, and to me specifically,” Spieth said. “This is a tournament I’ve grown up watching and always dreamt and still continue to dream of winning some day. Whether that’s a few days from now or years in the future, hopefully one day I can have that green jacket, but this is just an incredible atmosphere.”
