Jordan Spieth Using His Home as a Motel This Week

Dallas’ Jordan Spieth is serving as unofficial ambassador for the AT&T Byron Nelson.

He is sponsored by AT&T, made his first start at the Nelson at age 16, and this week has opened his home to players Justin Thomas and Patrick Rodgers and caddie Michael Greller and his wife. He also did Tuesday’s Youth Clinic with tour veteran Harrison Frazar of Dallas.

Spieth is coming off a tie for second at last week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, giving him runner-up finishes in the three previous Texas events.

After playing in Wednesday’s pro-am, the 21-year-old met with reporters and assessed all things Spieth, from his living arrangements this week to how much time he spends studying endorsement contracts.

On Using His New Home in Preston Hollow as a Motel This Week

“That's the sole reason I got a new house so I can host some funny people this week. It's been a lot of fun.  I've got Justin Thomas staying there, Patrick Rodgers and Michael my caddy.  So, we're having a good time.

“Yeah, they got in Sunday night.  Patrick played last week, Justin got in Sunday and we were able to spend a good amount of time together the last few days and obviously probably spend a little too much time with Justin this week.  Patrick is in the same wave, which makes it easy.

“We're going to have a great time.  We'll have the whole afternoon and evening tonight and morning tomorrow and it's cool.  We do rent places week to week.  The only difference is now when they mess up in the house I get a little upset versus us trying to figure out how we clean it up.”
