The Players Championship 2015

Masters Champion Spieth Commits to THE PLAYERS

Just days after his historic win at Augusta National Golf Club, Masters champion Jordan Spieth committed to THE PLAYERS and will look to improve upon the T4 finish he had in his debut in 2014.

Spieth matched a number of legendary performances and set several records on his way to winning the Masters on Sunday. Spieth, now No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking behind Rory McIlroy.

This year will mark Spieth’s second start in THE PLAYERS. In 2014, he led the tournament through three rounds, playing the first 58 holes without making a single bogey. But he struggled to a 2-over 74 on the final day to finish three shots behind eventual champion, Martin Kaymer.

“I approach (THE PLAYERS) as a major and believe it's one of the best fields in golf. Five tournaments in the year I consider major championships,” Spieth said in 2014.

Spieth will look to join Woods as the only player to win THE PLAYERS and the Masters in the same season, with Woods accomplishing the feat in 2001.

With his victory at Augusta National Golf Club last week, Spieth took over the lead in the FedExCup standings for the first time in his career. In his last four starts, he has two victories (Masters Tournament and Valspar Championship) and two runners-up (Valero Texas Open and Shell Houston Open).
