The Open Championship – the fourth and final major of the season – presents a challenge unlike any other. From furious winds to unfriendly terrain, each course that hosts the event tests the skill and determination of even the best golfers in the world, and the links at Royal Portrush Golf Club are no different.
The oldest of the four major golf tournaments returns to Northern Ireland for the first time in 58 years this week, and Jordan Spieth will look to finish the major season on a strong note with a follow-up to his 2017 title.
The Open Championship presents a unique challenge every year given the uncertain conditions that await. Under Armour outfitted Jordan with scripting that will ensure he can overcome the elements, those mild or harsh, and keep his focus on the course.
Backed by best-in-class golf apparel, the three-time major winner will be outfitted in the Under Armour Playoff Polo and Tour Tips Polo, both designed with the latest material innovations to allow for complete comfort on the links. Given the unpredictability of the weather surrounding the coastline of Northern Ireland, Jordan will also have the Storm Full Zip and Storm Daytona Half Zip in his scripting arsenal during the tournament, utilizing technology to repel water without sacrificing breathability as he navigates Royal Portrush.
Jordan will also wear an Open Championship limited edition of the Spieth 3, the most innovative golf shoe on the market. The navy colorway has pops of gold and maroon, a subtle nod to the Royal Portrush Golf Club logo, with a collar lining mimicking the iconic carpet pattern seen throughout the clubhouse.
Working with the footwear team at UA, we wanted to give a nod to Royal Portrush and its rich history and tradition. I can’t wait to tee it up at The Open Championship wearing these limited-edition Spieth 3’s.
