Spieth Joins PGA TOUR Pros for Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase

The 2017 Genesis Open kicks off Monday, Feb. 13, with the Collegiate Showcase. Gates open at 8 a.m. for the pro-am event, which features six college golf programs: Kentucky, Colorado, UCLA, Texas, Washington and Pepperdine.

Teams for the Collegiate Showcase are made up of one PGA TOUR pro, one collegiate athlete and two amateurs proudly representing their alma mater. The six teams will play in two different competitions Monday. Best ball play will pit the teams against each other with the PGA TOUR pro and two amateurs contributing to the best ball scores. Teams play for the chance to win a $50,000 donation to the school's golf program.

The professional field is headlined by world No. 6 Jordan Spieth, who helped the University of Texas Longhorns win the 2012 NCAA Team Championship at Riviera. Also representing their alma maters will be former Kentucky Wildcats player J.B. Holmes and UCLA alum Kevin Chappell.
