The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation Announces Its 2023 Grant Recipients

We are honored to share the great work of our 2023 Jordan Spieth Family Foundation Grant Partners! The JSFF team has enjoyed getting to know the leadership teams and the hearts of the 21 organizations. We are thrilled to share their stories over the next year; each group focuses on impactful work within our four mission pillars that inspires us, and we are so grateful to be supporting each of their unique journeys.

Individuals With Special Needs


Believe It Foundation

The Believe It Foundation works to enrich the lives of children with physical challenges through inclusion in the lives and experiences of those who do not face the same limitations, such as bicycle riding. JSFF is funding the Believe It Bikes adaptive bike program for children ages 3-22 who are unable to ride conventional bicycles due to conditions like cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, as well as students who have intellectual and developmental disabilities such as autism. Through Believe It Bikes, JSFF will be providing free adaptive bicycles to children across 14 San Antonio-area school districts for use and training in classrooms and further use in homes.

Brookwood in Georgetown

Brookwood in Georgetown is place that provides God-centered, innovative vocational and residential community for adults with special needs, and to change the way the world views this population. The JSFF will fund Citizen Scholarships to ensure each "Citizen" can remain at BiG without concern of ability to pay tuition. With 86% of adults with special needs reporting unemployment, and over 30,000 diagnoses in Williamson County alone, BiG is only meeting a small portion of a tremendous need for this population with intentional love and long-term focused training and support.

Easterseals

Easterseals is focused on making positive and profound differences in the lives of people with disabilities, and through the Dallas area Easterseals program the JSFF will be funding the launch of an inclusive childcare program in South Dallas for kids with autism, as well as their neurotypical peers. Looking toreplicate the successful Walden Model and a goal of with 97% of kids with autism that start the program beginning school on-level.

Lake Highlands Junior Women's League

The JSFF is thrilled to continue our support of Flag Pole Hill Park’s All Abilities Playground, which we helped establish in 2018. This grant will help add additional accessibility options, more options for typically developing siblings, and to reduce crowding. The JSFF will be funding the purchase and install of the only no-transfer wheelchair swing in the city of Dallas, which will increase the inclusivity of this playground considerably. Children who cannot bear weight on their legs can remain in their wheelchair, wheel right onto the swing, secure the chair’s brakes, and swing securely in their wheelchair.

Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center

Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center is a community in Washington where horses transform the bodies, minds, and spirits of children with disabilities. Our JSFF grant will support Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center’s Adaptive Riding program to remove participant financial barriers to the program, allowing them to build physical strength and self-confidence, while improving social and communication skills.

My Possibilities

My Possibilities is the relentless pursuit of full, untapped possibilities for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, whom we affectionately refer to as HIPsters (Hugely Important People) through continued education, employment and health programs. Through this grant, My Possibilities will establish the JSFF Putting Green at the sport complex, providing year-round access and be incorporated into the Lifelong Learning program and HIPster Life Activities. We are thrilled the putting green will give HIPsters confidence on the golf course and the opportunity to develop skills to translate to a public golf setting, as well as provide educational programming, physical activity, and wellness activities.

Special Olympics

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. We are thrilled to support the Young Athletes program, promoting early childhood development for children with intellectual disabilities through developmental sport at the youngest age. Via Special Olympics grant, the JSFF pursues a goal of increasing the likelihood children stay engaged in sports through adulthood, improving both health and social outcomes.

Pediatric Cancer


Carson Leslie Foundation

Carson Leslie Foundation mission of helping kids fight cancer encompasses investing in brain cancer research and promoting awareness that brain cancer is the deadliest disease of our Nation’s children and support the mental health of kids in the battle. The JSFF will sponsor the Teen Backpack program, which are packs handed to newly diagnosed teen cancer patients at the major institutions throughout Texas. Backpacks include a journal, and other comforting items for their journey helping the often overlooking older pedatric population know they are not alone.

Children's Flight of Hope

Children's Flight of Hope believes distance and the cost of travel should never be barriers to pediatric cancer care, and work to provide flights to specialized medical care for the duration of the healthcare journey for children in need. As they experience unprecedented demand for flight assistance for children facing cancer battles, the JSFF will fund numerous trips for families to help ease the financial burden of their journeys.

Children's Hospital of Georgia (CHOG)

CHOG’s mission is to provide innovative, family-centered care to our patients by promoting prevention and providing breakthrough treatments for children. As the primary pediatric teaching partner of the Medical College of Georgia, we provide the most comprehensive pediatric routine-to-complex care in the area and this JSFF grant will provide a dedicated and much-needed pediatric hematology/oncology social worker at CHOG who will serve as a “goodwill ambassador," build up good rapport and communication between doctors and patients, and foster adaptation and healthy coping. The grant will also support a pediatric hem/onc patient travel fund, which will support specific needs for patients and their families. These needs include travel to and from the hospital for critical treatment appointments as well as unexpected overnight or prolonged stays for those travelling from out of town.

Cook Children's Hospital

Knowing every child's life is sacred, Cook Children's promises to improve the well-being of every child in our care and our communities. At the Cook Children’s Hematology and Oncology Center, the JSFF will support the Genetic Oncology Clinic that provides care and counseling to children and their families with a genetic predisposition to cancer. This program is one of only a few Genetic Oncology Clinics in the U.S. and collaborates among pediatric oncologists, geneticists, and genetic counselors, providing education, guidance, therapy, and routine cancer surveillance. We are thrilled to expand program infrastructure expansion and prevent barriers for families accessing necessary surveillance scans.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

The mission of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. By supporting the Texas Pediatric Patient Financial Assistance program, the JSFF will provide eligible patients with up to $1,000 per year for the basic necessities of living as well as treatment-related expenses such as transportation, lodging and medical bills, providing a safety net for families who have a child impacted by cancer.

Junior Golf


American Junior Golf Foundation

The AJGA Achieving competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant provides financial assistance to young men and women who aspire to earn a college golf scholarship through competitive junior golf, The JSFF is pleased to support families in need of help with various expenses associated with pursuing junior golf such as entry fees, housing, travel, as well as equipment reimbursement available upon completion of an AJGA event. The ACE Grant program is consistently being evaluated and with recent trends, we anticipate an increase of 30% and an additional financial burden for 2023.

First Tee - Central Florida

The First Tee enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills curriculum, they're working to create learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry through everything they do. This JSFF grant focuses on a mentorship component, and the support allows First Tee - Central Florida to triple the number of at-risk mentees, who pair up with coaches, volunteers, board members and staff, to have a trustworthy and reliable adult to share burdens, receive encouragement, enjoy a meal, and tee it up together on a monthly basis.

First Tee - Fort Worth

The mission of First Tee — Fort Worth is to impact the lives of all young people by providing participation in First Tee’s Life Skills Curriculum and its Nine Core Values through the game of golf, thereby instilling life enhancing values that encourage leadership, build character, foster community service and promote wellness. The partnership with the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation allows TFTFW to provide no cost access to First Tee programming for military families in our community, and furthers reach in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood via no cost classes, camps, and PE curriculum at Briscoe Elementary School.

Save Muny

With a goal to save and preserve Austin's historied Lions Municipal Golf Course, JSFF grants support will be used for enhancement of the junior driving range and new putting green for Austin Junior Golf Academy, a place where no child is turned away from the game due to inability to pay.

Military Families and Veterans


Freedom Alliance

Freedom Alliance honors and supports America's service members, veterans, and their families. The JSFF will be supporting the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund with a grant supporting undergraduate college scholarships to the sons and daughters of military heroes who have been killed or critically injured on active duty or a training mission. These scholarships provide much needed financial assistance and are a reminder to the student that their parent's sacrifice will never be forgotten by a grateful nation.

Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive – not simply struggle to get by – in the communities that they have worked so hard to protect. With the support of the JSFF grant, Operation Homefront will be able to support thousands of military children as they head back to school next fall through Backpack Brigrade support and provide gratitude at the holidays with food baskets and gift cards for north Texas military families.

Operation Second Chance

Operation Second Chance is committed to serving wounded, injured and ill combat veterans by building relationships and identifying and supporting immediate needs and interests. The JSFF support in 2023 will provide emergency financial assistance in the form of mortgage and rent payments, utility payments, emergency travel and lodging and daily essential items, to Veterans in dire need.

Soldiers' Angels

The mission of Soldiers’ Angels is to provide aid, comfort, and resources to the military, veterans and their families. Transitioning from the military to civilian life is challenging, not only for the service member but for their families. Via the JSFF grant, Soldiers' Angels is committed to improve the overall well-being of these heroes and their families, focusing on critical needs and help mitigate the barriers of access to physical and mental healthcare, food, transportation, increasing access to programming that fosters a healthy lifestyle, and improving social determinants of health, that boost opportunities for veterans to thrive after service.

Warriors & Quiet Waters

Warriors & Quiet Waters guides veterans and their loved ones to thrive and
find peace, meaning, and purpose through fly fishing and other inspirational activities in nature. The JSFF will be able to fully fund the 2023 Family Fishing Experience (FFX), a five-day program with activities designed to address the urgent needs of military families through guided fly fishing, challenge courses, and hiking and swimming in a national forest, helping work through the effects of war that extend far beyond the deployed Servicemember to their spouses and children.
