The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation was honored to sponsor the inagural Rays of Light Prom, Night Under the Stars. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful participants of Rays of Light and host a memorable Prom experience. Rays of Light is a program special to the Spieth family, having been personally involved for years with Ellie as a participant and both Jordan and Steven as volunteers. Rays of Light is dedicated to providing free, quality respite care to families with children with special needs, across the spectrum, in the Dallas area.
“We’re so grateful to Jordan for making this event a success with no cost to Rays of Light,” said Catherine Miller, on behalf of Night Under the Stars committee. “His humility and compassion for special needs kiddos shined bright on Saturday night!”
In addition to Jordan and his family in attendance, Night Under the Stars was attended by almost three dozen kids, with over 40 volunteers serving as dates and entertainers who helped make the night most special. Included in the volunteers were 20 young men from Jordan’s alma matter, Jesuit High School, who helped with set up, hosting and break down for the night. Students from many other local schools and organizations, including Rays of Light Night Lights, also helped make the night amazing. Each of the incredible volunteers greeted their dates with provided corsages boutonnieres, welcomed under custom balloon arches and offered special professional portraits and a night of fun on the dancefloor.
One of the highlights of the evening was DJ Dottie. Dottie is a 27 years old with cerebral palsy who has a fantastic DJ business; she kept the energy high with great music all night. Special touchpoints to enhance the experience for all included the participants’ favorite foods, a balloon artist, crafts options and props for photos.
The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation would like to thank Rays of Light organization, and specifically the Prom committee, who was truly made this night possible. The Foundation remains grateful for the opportunity to work Rays of Light and for being able to be a part of this wonderful evening.
