Special Needs Youth

The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation Awards 2014 Holiday Gift to Rays of Light and It's a Sensory World

Jordan’s main inspiration for this charitable platform comes from his experiences with his sister Ellie. The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation stays committed to supporting educational and recreational opportunities for youth and young adults with special needs as a primary pillar of our mission. This holiday season, the Foundation is proud to partner with Rays of Light, Inc. and It’s a Sensory World with gifts to support their programming and outreach to families with special needs in the Dallas area. Nurturing these youth and their families will remain an integral part of our giving platform.

Rays of Light, Inc. provides free, quality respite care to families with children with special needs in the Dallas metropolitan area and is the largest respite program in the area addressing the needs of families with children with special needs. All services at Rays of Light are free for these special children and their siblings. Within the Rays of Light program, approximately 75% of the families are considered economically disadvantaged and unable to pay for quality respite care. The support from staff and volunteers lends tremendously to these families and makes a great impact in their lives, as experience firsthand by the Spieth family who has been participants in the program for many years. The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation was founded, in part, to support community-groups that are providing services for special needs youth and their families. Rays of Light is doing so by meeting a very specific need by giving children the opportunity to build new relationships and move toward independence as well as providing a pause for caregivers.

It’s a Sensory World offers affordable multi-sensory, educational, recreational, and therapeutic services for children with special needs and their families. They remain committed to creating unique programs that bridge the gap between therapies, home, school, and mainstream recreation is filling a great need for families in the Dallas area. By incorporating parent empowerment, this special organization is creating a wonderful, family-centric environment for many families who may not otherwise be able to afford to do so. It’s a Sensory World is not about financial gain. Their mission is to use their facility and teacher’s experience to serve as many families as possible in meeting their unique needs. With a gift from The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation, It’s a Sensory World will be able to open their doors to more families of special needs kids that are in need of financially assisted additional therapeutic services.
